ESAF Pashumitra

Overview

ESAF Pashumitra project aims at protecting cow breeds to enhance milk production. They ensure better service on Artificial insemination, vaccination, collection and procurement of milk. Besides offering self-employment opportunities to youth, the project also gives them a chance to work on improving health, nutrition and upgradation of cow breeds.

Out of the 19 Pashumitras trained by ESAF, 2 were from Karnataka and 17 were from Tamil Nadu. The training spanned a period of 45 days in-house and 75 days on-field. At present two Pashumitras from Karnataka who received AI certificates are providing primary veterinary services. ESAF has supported the Artificial insemination Centre with canes, gloves, and strips. The Farmer producer companies support the centre by bringing in dairy farmers. PDS, in association with BAIF, trained 12 Pashumitras from Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra and distributed Starter Kits to those who have completed the training.
